Dumpster Sizes For Roofing Shingles - Gorilla Bins

Dumpsters are a wonderful way of keeping all waste materials combined in one place. It keeps the area in which it is placed clean and usually lasts a week or so before it is full enough for pickup. Nowadays, dumpsters can be rented quite easily, making it less arduous for trade workers and others to conduct a job while keeping the mess contained.

While dumpsters can be used for many things, one of the main reasons they are rented is for roofing jobs. Professional roofers often take advantage of dumpster rentals due to the large amount of waste they can fit into the container. It makes cleanup so much easier, and creates a safe environment for employees and others crossing through during the job.

How Do I Select a Dumpster Rental Size?

Selecting a dumpster rental size shouldn’t be too difficult. Most dumpster rental companies will have a small selection. Usually the options go by the measurement of yards, such as 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 yard dumpsters. Each size is varied in order to accommodate the needs of everyone who may need to rent one.

The smallest dumpster, which is 10 yards, is typically the right size for small cleaning jobs such as cleaning out the attic. The largest dumpster, 40 yards, is best used for projects that are larger in nature such as construction. Some people even choose to rent multiple dumpsters at once, depending on the size.

When it comes to roofing, it truly depends on how large the job is, but typically a 20 yard dumpster will work just fine. A 20 yard dumpster can fit a little of over 9 tons of waste. This makes it a good option for those redoing the roof on a home, small business, or other similar facility. If the job is bigger than that, you may want to consider a larger option.

As roofers conduct their jobs, they come across a lot of waste. Broken and old shingles, plastic, nails, and other miscellaneous objects will all need to be thrown away. It is easy for the roofers to clean up as they go when they have a dumpster nearby. Imagine if they didn’t have anywhere to throw the waste. The roof and its surroundings would be covered in trash until it was all collected. The area will be unsafe and someone may end up seriously injured. With a dumpster, the roofers can simply throw the waste right off of the roof and into the dumpster if it sits close enough to the structure being shingled.
